Alright, I was Desmond as a child, and I wish I had this book when I was little!   Have you ever felt like you wanted to disappear?  You could blend into any background and no one would see you?  Do you know a child like this?!  If so, pick up this book now!  The illustrations by Alter are lovely and vibrant and show a cleverly  hidden Desmond in the first part of the story.  After a rather outgoing bunny named Gloria takes notice of Desmond, his world begins to change.  And not too long after, Desmond is able to pay it forward.  The story artfully and poignantly illustrates how one simple act of kindness can brighten up your life, whether you are the giver or the receiver.
