Periwinkle Smith and the faraway star by John & Wendy

Periwinkle Smith and the Faraway StarPeriwinkle Smith looks like the younger sister to Katie Kazoo, and it's no wonder since her creators are the illustrators of the popular series. I have to admit to thinking "yeah, made for TV book" when I first saw the cover, but after the first reading, I changed my mind. The story is cute, simple and it flows easily page to page. Periwinkle wants to befriend a star. Her first two attempts are clever, yet not successful. On her third try however she is able to show the star how she feels in a very creative way. Nice simple story with a pleasing ending perfect for preschoolers. Periwinkle Smith and the Twirly, Whirly Tutu was the first in the set, and I am sure we can expect more tales in the future.
