iPhone Apps for Kids

Can you imagine allowing your child to play with a $200 piece of technology?!  Well, I did (see photo!).  He was cranky and not letting me get my work done, so I quickly downloaded a simple 99 cent app called Monkey Preschool Lunchbox and BAMM!  My little one took to it as if he had played with an iTouch his enter life (yeah, all 35 months).  That prompted me to actually look for a few other apps - things to have on hand in case we are stuck in a store and he's being a Mr. Crankypants, or I'm trying to fold laundry and he decides to unfold everything I already have in piles.  Just a back-up plan.  I do not intend for my darling soon-to-be 3  year old to own his own iTouch (or similar item) for many  years and I do not want him breaking mine either!  I'm pretty lucky and he doesn't use it as a chew toy and hasn't thrown anything in the toilet in a year or so... but I still keep an eye on him when he has my precious toy.  In any case, back to the apps... there are so many out there, and frankly a lot of it is not worth the time it takes to download, but I did find a pretty reliable review site that recommended 50 apps for kids.  If you're like me and need a starting point, check it out.  Also, if you have any other's to suggest, please add them to the comments!

There is a cost for most of these, but some are free.  Note, they don't include the Monkey Preschool Lunchbox, but I highly recommend it and it's educational!

  1. Monkey Preschool Lunchbox features five educational mini games they’re good for teaching tots such concepts as colors, counting, shapes, matching, and letters. I love this app for my daughter.
