If you had attended the penguin storytime at the library this week, you too could have made this adorable penguin puppet:
I don't really have a pattern for this - I simply drew the shapes (feet, beak, white belly, two eyes) and then cut them out (the whole zillion needed for the group). I did not like the circle eyes, so I stuck googly eyes in them, which gives the penguin an odd appearance. The body of the puppet is just a 11 X 18 sheet of construction paper folded over. The top of the head is the crease where the fold is. I cut a simple penguin shape and glued the edges down, leaving the bottom open so kids can stick their hand in there and use it as a puppet. If you need any help, just send me a note!

Very cute puppet. We'd have to get some 11 X 18 paper though if I wanted to make them.
ReplyDeleteYou could use regular 8 1/2 X 11 (roughly) construction paper or something similar and just glue all the way around. We buy the larger paper in bulk so I thought I'd make use of the crease and a little less glue :)
